This will be a running post to chronicle the Healthy Wage $10,000 Team Challenge that started in October 18, 2019 and runs until January 10, 2020.
I will not be reporting on the progress of specific teams right now—but will be focused on the constituent ribbon-earning activities and the timelines associated with them.
If your team would like to be reported on specifically, please contact me and we can do that. Otherwise this will be general information for everyone who is interested in this.
Weekly Weight Loss Percentages
Below is the team percentage weight loss required to maintain a pace toward a 16.59% team weight loss on January 10. This is calculated as a week-to-week percentage value and takes into account the fact that as people lose weight, the number of pounds they need to lose to maintain a certain weekly percentage of weight loss decreases.
The 16.59% in 12 weeks is based on losing 1.5% of one’s weight each week. This translates to the following cumulative percentages of weight loss one should have at the end of each week to maintain pace:
- End of Week 1 (10/25): 1.50%
- End of Week 2 (11/1): 2.59%
- End of Week 3 (11/8): 4.43%
- End of Week 4 (11/15): 5.87%
- End of Week 5 (11/22): 7.28%
- End of Week 6 (11/29): 8.67%
- End of Week 7 (12/6): 10.04%
- End of Week 8 (12/13): 11.39%
- End of Week 9 (12/20): 12.72%
- End of Week 10 (12/27): 14.03%
- End of Week 11 (1/3): 15.32%
- End of Week 12 (1/10): 16.59%
Day 4 (10/21)
Looks like we have 46 teams at this time. This number may go up this week as more teams form, but time is running out for forming a team that actually has a chance of finishing in the top 3 for a $10,000, $5,000, or $3,000 prize.
Weekly Weigh-in #1
At this point, all team members should be weighed in. If not, it is best to do this as soon as possible, as the 16.59% maximum weight loss in 12 weeks is an aggressive goal and most people need as much time to get there as they can muster.
According to the Healthy Wage help desk, the verified weigh ins between Day 1 (10/18) and the Saturday of this calendar week (10/26) should earn everyone Weigh-in Ribbon #1. This will appear on everyone’s dashboards.
If it doesn’t appear, I would recommend posting a non-verified weigh in sometime this week, prior to 11:59 pm Saturday, Eastern time, and check that the ribbon is awarded. If not, contact the help desk.
Mini-Challenge #1: Team Before Photo

From Monday-Sunday, 10/21-10/27, the team needs to upload a “before” photo. This will clinch one of the size mini-challenge ribbons.
From sources I have talked to, this appears to be a simple task involving photo editing tools.
The next mini challenge begins 2 weeks after this one. Note the Monday-Sunday timing—which is different from the Sunday-Saturday timing for weekly weight loss weigh-ins:
