Part 2: 6% Individual Jackpot Challenges
Part 5: $10,000 Team Challenges (also see here and here)
The Healthy Wage Step Challenges do not make you a lot of money in themselves, but they can assist in keeping you on track to make your HealthyWager and other weight-based challenges. Consider them as a type of insurance.
How often is it offered?
Several times a month.
Are these team or individual challenges?
They are fundamentally individual challenges—you succeed or fail based on if you meet your step goal. You can join a team or create your own team, but it’s just for fun only.
You will link a fitness tracker to Healthy Wage. Healthy Wage will examine your recent step history and give you a 60-day goal to meet for the challenge. This will be 125% of your median daily steps over the last 45 days, times 60 days.
For my two challenges pictured above, my median step count was 11,260. Therefore, my target daily steps for the two challenges is 14,076. The 60-day total is 60 times that or 844,560.
For me that’s about 345 miles. If I started walking northbound on Interstate 75 from the Ohio-Michigan state line, 345 miles would get me across the Mackinac Bridge and into St. Ignace.
You don’t have to hit the daily step goal every day. It is only the 60 day total that is important. If you exceed the daily step goal, the Current Daily Goal will drop to reflect what you need to do on each of the remaining days to make it. Conversely, if you fall short, your Current Daily Goal will go up.
What can you expect to get paid?
A $60 bet will return between $60 and $70. It’s not much by itself. But the stepping obligation can help you by increasing your metabolism, as well as keeping you off the couch or away from taking second helpings at the dinner table.
I got $61.19 on a step challenge I did last spring. The following step challenges concluding in October paid a little better:
- Step Master paid $69.62 on 10/11
- Walk Your Way to Winning paid $71.16 on 10/21
- Step On Up paid $63.98 on 10/25
- One Foot in Front of the Other paid $60.00 on 11/4–this one triggered the money-back guarantee because more than 75% of the players hit their goals
