At this moment I have 13.77 points in my HW Points at Healthy Wage. I just dumped all I could into four 12-week mini challenges spanning across a 10-day period. I am now in:
- The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, $30; need to drop from 207.2 to 194.8 by as early as 11/15 and as late as 11/29 (it’s not Christmas yet, people–what kind of name is that for a September challenge???)
- Back To School, $60; need to drop from 207.2 to 194.8 by as early as 11/17 and as late as 12/1
- Enrolling Into Weight Loss, $60; need to weigh in this Wednesday 9/11 and drop 6% of that weight as early as 11/20 and as late as 12/4
- Hitting the Jackpot, $100; need to weigh in this Sunday 9/15 and drop 6% of that weight as early as 11/24 and as late as 12/8
So there are multiple motivating factors here.
First of all, my HealthyWager weigh out period is 12/12-12/26 and I need to be 196.6 or less by that time. The first two minis require me to be well under that goal by mid-November to early December, with opportunities to clinch all four before the American Thanksgiving holiday weekend of 11/27-11/30. I want to be in a position where I can go on maintenance through that weekend and the following fortnight and give myself a nice Christmas bonus. I also want to start bulking up at the gym and I want to get in there before the rush of New Year’s resolutionists floods the place.
Secondly, one of my 6% team member buddies is going to press to make his HealthyWager, which is also ending in December. So we’ll work together on this, because he is also in some of these minis.
Thirdly, there’s the data analysis aspect of this. As you might notice, the deadlines on all four minis are after American Thanksgiving Day. The Most Wonderful Time of the Year ends on Black Friday (which is great if your scale crapped out–you can probably get a hell of a deal on a new one); Back to School on the following Sunday; and the other two the following week. The people who are going to fare best are the Americans who can weigh out before that extended weekend of carb overload, turkey comas, and shopping-induced stress begins; and Canadians, who will have done their Thanksgiving on 10/14 and will have dropped all that retained water long prior.
But will the winners get a larger return? Perhaps the Wonderful $30 will be doubled this time? Stay tuned!
Another question on my mind is what day I will get under 200 pounds finally. October 21 was the day I started my weight loss journey, after a blood pressure reading at my parents’ house scared the hell out of me. I’ll probably go over there that weekend to celebrate with them.
